🔬 What Actually Kills an Ad (data-backed)
These are the REAL variables — not the format or hook style.
- 🛑 Wrong LP for the creative promise — "Taught to Win" = $154 CPA on Trial, $513 on PUF. Same ad, 3x CPA difference. The LP is the variable.
- 🛑 Generic value props without specificity — "Start Selling" ($1,023 CPA) vs "First Sale in 2 Days" ($128 CPA). Concrete outcome + timeframe wins.
- 🛑 Talking head without visible PROOF — Testimonials work when showing results (screenshots, products, money). Die when it's just someone talking to camera with no evidence.
- 🛑 Insufficient budget to exit learning phase — Clips 37, 39, 41, 42 had $500-2K in isolated ad sets. Data is inconclusive, not conclusive. Need $3K+ to judge.
- 🛑 Feature-focused copy on outcome-focused creative — "Influencer Guy" had $175 CPA with money-hook copy, died with feature-focused Copy A.
- 🛑 Non-congruent organic content — IG reels using "comment ___" CTAs create dual CTA confusion when used as ads.
- 🛑 Price mentions in video — "$39/mo" in video script kills cold traffic. Soft CTA only.
- 🛑 Abstract numbers without context — "485" static ($810 CPA) vs "370 people launched a course" ($294 CPA). The number needs a story.
✅ Formats That DO Work (with the right execution)
- ✅ Other people's results — "First Sale | Ane L" = $98 CPA, 194 purchases. #2 best ad in SMB account.
- ✅ Customer testimonials — "Build-You-CBusiness" = $171 CPA. Key: show the PRODUCT/RESULT, not just the person.
- ✅ Educational hooks — "Taught to Win" = $154 CPA on Trial. Works when matched to the right LP/offer.
- ✅ Urgency/scarcity statics — "2 Day Sale" = $195 CPA, "24 Hours" = $180 CPA, "FIRST SALE IN 2 DAYS" = $128 CPA.
- ✅ Comparison/contrast statics — "Us vs Them - AI" = $176 CPA. Old way vs new way.
- ✅ Soft questions — Inconclusive. Never got enough budget to test properly. Worth retesting in winning campaigns.
