Key insight: their FREE tier goes up to 10,000 subscribers — but it's limited to broadcasts only (no automations, no sequences). The real money is the Creator tier where pricing scales smoothly with list size.
What Kit gets right:

💡 Key takeaways from Kajabi for SamCart pricing:
1. The 3rd-party processor surcharge is validated. Kajabi charges 2%/1%/0.5% on non-Kajabi processors. This is EXACTLY the SamPay play. If Kajabi can charge 2% on Basic and nobody blinks, SamCart can absolutely charge 1-2% on non-SamPay processors. Kajabi even reduces the surcharge at higher tiers — incentivizing upgrades AND their own processor simultaneously.
2. SamCart crushes Kajabi on price at every tier.
• Kajabi Basic (5 products, 2,500 contacts) = $179/mo → SamCart Start (3 products, 2,500 contacts + AI + Design Engine) = $29/mo
• Kajabi Growth (50 products, 25K contacts) = $249/mo → SamCart Grow (15 products, 10K contacts + full AI suite) = $79/mo
• Kajabi Pro (unlimited, 100K contacts) = $499/mo → SamCart Scale (unlimited, 50K contacts + premium AI) = $199/mo
SamCart is 3-6x cheaper with MORE AI/design capabilities. The only thing Kajabi has that SamCart doesn't: branded mobile app and community.
3. Kajabi gives unlimited funnels and landing pages on ALL tiers. They don't gate these. SamCart currently gates pages (3/15/50). Consider: are page limits creating unnecessary friction? Kajabi's approach says "build as much as you want, we gate on products and contacts." Worth debating.
4. Kajabi gates products aggressively (5/50/Unlimited). SamCart's proposed 3/15/Unlimited is similar but starts lower. The data from Numbers shows SMB median = 0 products, Scaler $79 median = 4, Scaler $99+ median = 37. Our gates align with actual usage better than Kajabi's.
5. Affiliates on ALL Kajabi tiers. SamCart currently gates affiliates to Scale only. Only 0.1% of SMB and 7.4% of Scaler $79 use affiliates, so the gate makes sense. But Kajabi includes it everywhere as a differentiator.

Kit's model suggests SamCart should consider two things:
1. Smooth contact scaling WITHIN tiers, not just at tier boundaries.
Right now: Start=1K, Grow=5K, Scale=25K. If someone on Grow has 6K contacts, they either pay $3/1K overage ($3/mo) or upgrade to Scale ($199/mo). That's a huge gap. Consider adding contact tier add-ons: Grow + 5K extra contacts = $79 + $12/mo = $91. Kit does this seamlessly with their slider — price increases $5-15 for each subscriber bump.
2. Don't gate sends separately from contacts.
Kit gives unlimited sends on all tiers. Mailchimp is the only one that limits sends AND contacts (and people hate it). Since SamCart email is a feature inside a larger platform (not the core product), generous send limits reduce support tickets and make email stickier. Recommendation: drop the explicit sends/mo limit and just gate on contacts. Power users who email 10x/week are your most engaged — don't penalize them.
3. Consider a higher base contact limit on Start.
Kit gives 10K contacts FREE. SamCart Start at $29/mo with 1K contacts looks stingy by comparison. Bump Start to 2,500 contacts (matches Kajabi's entry tier). This costs almost nothing to serve and removes a friction point for new sellers who might import an existing small list.
